Re: Greek / Latin?

Fr. Peter WAS at SAS my first year (68-69). He was teaching German,
and sort of "in residence" as I recall it, for a few years.

Fr. Dunstan (Larry) Dunphy taught us 3 years of Latin. Perhaps it is
because the words are so rarely spoken, but in a Latin Class that we
hear them echoing our first year class vocabulary by the one who
taught us.

Re: Greek / Latin?

Fr. Peter taught the Olympians both Latin (freshman year) and Greek (junior year). Some of the favorites were
"Sedete pueri "(sit down boys)
"Properate ad murum" (go to the board)
and at the end of the year in May, he wrote on the board
"Finis Coronat Opus" (The End crowns the Word) so don't slough off.

Then there were the warning before summer break

"Boys, Don't take a vacation from your Vocation"
