Hello All, Does anybody know what happened to the German prisoners uniforms, visors and personal affects once they arrived? A the standard picture from Island Farm show the prisoners wearing British uniforms. Thanks in advance. Colin
Hi I spotted your post about personal items Anything that gave an officer status or rank was confiscated as a means of de-nazification i.e. remove their glory, status, rank etc They were allowed to keep their uniform because it was cheaper to let them keep it than have to re-clothe them Here is an example of an officer writing to the camp commandant asking for his personal effects http://www.specialcamp11.co.uk/General%20der%20Fallschirmtruppe%20Hermann-Bernhard%20Ramcke2.htm regards Brett
