About This Stolen Instrument Registry Service -- How It Works

1. This is a free service of the Northern California Bluegrass Society.

2. It is national (increasing, international) in scope. In answer to numerous inquiries, it is not limited to bluegrass instruments.

3. MUSICIANS: Self-Report (ASAP) your stolen or missing instrument on this message board. TIPS 1) Put the key identifying info in the headline, if possible, i.e. ("1940 Martin D-18 stolen in Palo Alto, CA. June 1, 2004" NOT "Guitar Stolen", (2) Pur all known deatils in the body of your post -- scratch on bottom, in blue case, initials NB inside, etc. -- plus YOUR CONTACT INFO, (3) Update as you get more info. (4) Yes -- long-missing instruments may be reported at any time.

4. USED MUSIC INSTRUMENT BUYERS: Check this service before buying any used instrument. If intrument is reported stolen, contact appropriate law enforcement authorities (the attempted seller, it should be noted, may or may not be the thief) and contact the musician who filed the report with this service to get the facts.

5. ALL: Report if stolen or missing instrument has been recovered.

Thanks.
