I must say I've never been so moved before by a novel of any kind until I read "The Soccer Field is Empty". That book just made me bawl my eyes out, especially at the end. And while the book was somewhat unrelastic at points (no offense to the author), it still moved me to tears, and that alone makes me give it an A and ten stars! I can't wait to read the rest of Mr. Roeder's novels. I absolutely adored the relationship between Mark and Taylor, and sometimes wish I could have a relationship like that. This novel is right up there at the top of my list of favorite gay youth novels along with the "Rainbow Boys" books and "Boy Meets Boy". Highly recommended for all new readers interested in reading Mark A. Roeder novels!
