Last Stop Willoughby

Remembering the History of the CP&E Interurban Railroad
Saturday August 20, 2011: 8am – 11pm
Make Willoughby one of your stops this August at the 4th annual Last Stop Willoughby festival on Saturday, August 20th from morning until night..

Not only will this year commemorate Willoughby’s rich history of the Cleveland, Painesville and Eastern Railroad, the electric trolley line that ran from 1895 to 1926, the event will also celebrate the city’s modern ambiance.

There will be something for everyone in the family! View model train layouts and train engines or ride Lolly the Trolley, a motorized trolley reproduction. Also, ride the trolley at night for a spooky tour of Willoughby.

Come get a taste of Willoughby and sample downtown’s best restaurants and visit the myriad of boutiques, and eclectic shops that make the city a great place to live, work and play.

Most of our buildings were constructed in the 1880s and we have more than four blocks listed on The National Register of Historic Places. The CP&E car barn and power station remain; both seeing new life as a microbrewery and Italian restaurant. Willoughby Coal, situated between two major rail lines, was built as a flouring mill in the 1890s and has retained much of its historical integrity.

Willoughby is conveniently located near I-90 and Ohio Rt. 2 and lodging is nearby. We have plenty of free parking throughout the city.

Come early on Saturday (8:00 am – noon) and enjoy one of Northeast Ohio’s oldest and finest outdoor farmer’s markets with fresh produce, baked goods, flowers, sauces, pastas and more! Main activities start at Noon and end with a movie in the park at 9:00pm.
