The excavation of the burial ground at the Church Paddock, Cookham

The excavation of the burial ground at the Church Paddock, Cookham has been one of the key parts of the continuing archaeological investigation of Cookham Abbey. If you visited the excavation site in August 2022 or 2023 you will know how interesting are these finds. However, if you thought the story of Cookham Abbey was intriguing so far, just wait until you hear the results of the scientific analysis of the human remains discovered there.

Dr Ceri Falys is the expert osteoarchaeologist engaged by the University of Reading to analyse the Cookham Abbey human remains. Ceri will be giving a talk about her findings so far, jointly organised with Maidenhead Archaeological and Historical Society, on Wednesday July 17th at 8:00 pm – at the URC, West Street, Maidenhead or livestreamed via Zoom. Please see the attached flyer for further details. Tickets for FCA members are £2 in person at the URC (includes complimentary refreshments) and no charge for admittance to the Zoom livestream.
