McKelliff versus McAuliffe

Hello clan members,

I would appreciate you comments on the origins of my maternal great-grandfather. All Australian and UK documentation show him as a Mr. Oranto Charles Patrick McKelliff born on Cork, Ireland on or around 1870. Any & all searches I can do in County Cork show no results for either that forename or surname. I have started thinking about his name as an possible alias once he left Ireland.

Considering pronunciation etc; would you thing that the surname McAuliffe might not be too big a "leap of faith"

Also, if any of your clan can recommend a Cork-based researcher, I would greatly appreciate it.
