Every year about starting around now we have trouble with blackbirds coming into the house. As soon as they find an open door they will head inside and leave droppings all over the carpet and furniture before making an escape. This goes on for several months (corresponding with the nesting/mating season(?). They seem to almost hang about the doors outside waiting for a chance to get inside (it is not practical to keep the doors closed all the time as we have 3 small children who go in and out constantly).
We cannot think of what the attraction might be for them - we do not have loads of glazing or obvious desired flight paths and have not noticed a significant increase in their numbers coinciding with this behaviour occurring.
Any answers/solutions???
