Looking back through the pages of Canadian boxing history, a slice of the story touches on the welterweight champions of Canada. There are many places to start so one of the many is the Welterweight Champions of the Seventies with two
of the shining stars being DONATO PADUANO and CLYDE GRAY.
If I was doing a story on Donato and Clyde, there are many places to start, but
to personalize it then the real starting point begins is 1967 at one of the best
tournaments in British Columbia amateur boxing history and that is the
1967 International Diamond Belt Centennial Championships.
Of course, the complete story would require flashbacks to many others
such as SAMMY LUFTSPRING and BILLY TOWNSEND, and tripping through
the decades with a few JOEY DURELLE or CHRIS CLARKE moments.
