Re: jan 29 wbc continental champship

Who is he fighting?

Re: jan 29 wbc continental champship

Heres the newspaper clipping talking about who he's fighting. It says the guy Tyson is fighting is 8-0 but he has some other fights that weren't verified. He's an undefeated fighter from Nigeria.

Lefties Cave, Bolum sign for title tilt

Tyson Cave and Nestor Bolum, both southpaws, have signed contracts to fight for the World Boxing Council (WBC) Continental Americas super bantamweight title in Halifax on Jan. 29.

Promoter Robert Cave said the two have formally agreed to the 122-pound clash on Jan. 29 at Palooka’s Gym in Halifax.

The 28-year-old Tyson Cave, 12-1, is the Canadian super bantamweight champion. Bolum, a 26-year-old from Nigeria, is 8-0.

Cave has four career knockouts while Bolum has just one.

The winner can expect a top-20 ranking by the WBC.

More details, including the undercard bouts, are due out next week.

All 8 fights in 2006-2007 in South Africa.

Top 20 World rating?

Yeah, I know. Looks good on paper, thats about it as far as the credibility of that title or ranking.

On the upside though, it is a step forward and Tyson is the only guy left in town so I hope its successful.

Re: jan 29 wbc continental champship

Says on Bolums boxrec bio that he was a 2004 olymian.

True.
That was 7 years ago though, guy hasn't fought in 4.

Re: jan 29 wbc continental champship

I hear he has fought but just not posted. I could be wrong but thats what I hear. Either way this is a good step up. Former olympian and undefeated pro. You know he will be good.

Last friday in Montreal Lemieux face a guy who had
18-1 record and it last 2 rounds

What's your point, Froggy? That Tyson should give his opponents 2-weeks' notice like Team Lemieux likes to do?

Re: jan 29 wbc continental champship

Nobody likes to mention that thats a good point. When one guy trains for 6 weeks & the other trains for 2 its not a fair fight.

Thats a good point, but when did fair become a part of Pro Boxing?

9 times out of 10 theres someone who's supposed to win, and someone who's supposed to lose. Theres a guy with money behind him padding his record, and a guy making a couple thousand bucks to get beat up.
Not that far from the WWE really in a lot of ways.........

The Olympic thing does mean a lot, but if in fact he hasn't fought in 4 years it will mean a lot more.
It is a step up though.

What's better 2 weeks notice or a guy that hasn't fight in 4 years

6 of 1, half a dozen of another.......... Lemieux and Tyson are not taking the dollars for beatings route.
Its that simple.
Biggest difference is lemieux has time on his side IMHO.

Re: jan 29 wbc continental champship

So...whats the deal? Is this fight still on? Or has the little guy retired?
