letter to TN Governor Bredesen, Lt Governor,Ramsey, and Rep Jason Mumpower

Subject: official BIA Finding regarding Tennessee's "Central Band of Cherokee"

Dear Governor Bredesen, Lt Governor Ramsey, and Rep Mumpower,

It is vital that Tennessee's leading governmental representatives be aware and know what the Bureau of Indian Affairs has found regarding the status of the group known as the "Central Band of Cherokee" - or as they used to be known, the "Cherokees of Lawrence County".

Representative Jason Mumpower has publicly claimed, "Over the past several years, I have been presented with volumes of information proving the heritage of Tennessee Native Americans and their tribes."
    http://blogs.tennessean.com/opinion/2010/07/09/debate-is-over-cash-not-heritage/
And I have asked (at the same website):

"As a taxpaying United States citizen and a citizen of the state of Tennessee, I ask that the transcripted references to these historical “volumes” be posted on this website, so that we may all determine for ourselves the truth of the claims made by the groups.

Make the historical documentation available on Tennessee’s own state website also, where it should be shared and celebrated by everyone!

    Thank you."

    --------------

I submit the following information (below) to each of you from the BIA to show why none of the groups in Tennessee, who were handed 'recognition' by members of their own groups via Tennessee's Commission of Indian Affairs, should have ever had any kind of state 'recognition'. I look forward to hearing from you regarding this most important issue and I also look forward to the recinding of the illegal, unethical, and wrongful 'recognition' that was simply handed to the six groups without any verifiable proof of their claims to being 'tribes'.

Thank you in advance for your time and consideration.
    Sincerely,
    Donna Smith
