two-faced Republican Zach Wamp & Obama's proposed stimulus package

BUH!!!! This afternoon on CNN Live (hubby was home for lunch and had it on), I saw Republican Zach Wamp whinning about Obama's stimulus package and there was a female Republican who was also against the stimulus package.

BOTH said "more government" is wrong. Money going to "more government" is wrong. The stimulus package isn't going to work even if 1/3 is for tax breaks and 2/3's is to create jobs in the near future. Apparently Wamp and the woman economist believe jobs should be somehow created instantly?!

Anyway, now I find out Zach Wamp is wanting some of the bailout money to pay for TVA's ash spill(s)!

CHATTANOOGA - Two Tennessee congressmen hope to get $25 million from a federal economic stimulus bill to help pay for the cleanup of a large-scale coal ash spill in Tennessee.

Republican Rep. Zach Wamp and Democratic counterpart Lincoln Davis say they want to ease the burden on the Tennessee Valley Authority ratepayers for the $1 million-a-day cost of cleaning up some 1.1 billion gallons of sludge and ash that spilled from a containment pond at the Kingston Fossil Plant in late December.

Not everyone supports the request for cleanup funds. Tennessee Sen. Bob Corker told the Chattanooga Times Free Press that the request doesn't belong in a stimulus bill aimed at kick-starting the ailing American economy.

"This is exactly the kind of thing that causes Americans to be so discontented with Congress. That is not a stimulus," Corker said. "If people want to talk about this as the 2009 pork package, that's a different thing."

    Stimulus Package

    Re: two-faced Republican Zach Wamp

and umm, can someone explain to me why the TVA - a government agency - can't get it's own government money since .. it's already part of the government?!

How about the TVA's CEO and other employees who're designated for million-dollar / bonuses instead give up their bonuses to pay for the clean-up since the spill happened on their watch?!

Is Zach Wamp in the pocket of TVA? Why is he suddenly so concerned that TVA gets a bailout at tax payer's expence? He says it's to "protect" the rate-payers? Protect us?! Looks like we'll be paying for the fly-ash clean-up twice via TVA rate hikes AND with tax-payer's funds from the government.

Re: Everytime I see his name I can't help but think

of Luke Skywalker saying how he used to target Wamp rats back home and hitting that little aperture on the Death Star should be no problem at all. Well, if the exact terminology wasn't "wamp rats" it was close enough.
