    unbelievable!!!

gas prices here were at $2.16 minus three cents off. Saw another place when we went to feed my son's puppies last night that was $2.12 for a gallon of regular. My mother-in-law says she saw or heard of a place up near Danville, KY that was selling a gallon of regular for $1.99!!

Oil companies aren't in any big hurry to get prices down that far AND, OPEC is cutting back production - to try and drive prices back up. I hope people keep carpooling and whatnot, if for no other reason than to cut back in consumption.

Re: Exxon Mobile just broke their own record earnings--again!

According to their community reports, they "gave" $206.6 million out to worldwide charities in 2007. A little over half ($124 million) was distributed in the US. Sounds like a lot until you look at the way they distributed it. Only $2 mil went to environmental initiatives (US; 6.6 mil worldwide) and only $2.9 mil went to health initiatives in the US (about 10% of their total giving worldwide went to health). They spent $32 mil on "Civic and Community" and $30 mil in matching donations to contributions by their employees/retirees.

Here's the kicker. They don't take unsolicited grant applications. They only fund organizations they choose "to work with community organizations with whom we have established or proactively developed relationships. ExxonMobil does not seek and rarely funds unsolicited grant applications and project proposals."

    Proactive for whom?

    Sounds like typical corporate sleeze...

wonder what their definition of a "charity" is--that wouldn't include political fronts, would it?

Re: Sounds like typical corporate sleeze...

Dunno ... couldn't find a list of the charities they supported. Only a list of how they distributed the charitable funds. :/

Actually 206 mil in "charitable" giving doesn't sound like much at all

when their corporate profits are in the billions!!!
