I guess it depends on how true and genuine the couple is. I think it's always good to know what you are faced with, it's call preparing yourself for the future (hopefully). Then, you will know if it is going to work out or not. I am DEFINITELY a proponent of living together before marrying.

1) It's all well and good that the ultimate goal (FOR SOME) is to make the trip to the altar. BUT, it is a SERIOUS thing to take vows before The Almighty (at least to me). So why not be sure before taking that step?

2) And, to play devil's advocate...AND, at the risk of setting off the traditionalists and the Essence-addicted sistas...what's wrong with "free milk"?

Without a doubt I would have to say NOT because this goes against the marriage covenant. I think that a lot of people rush to the altar before they really and geniunely know a person. We as a people are so quick to give in to our fleshly desires by lusting after one another and engaging in sexual intercourse. I am aware that there aren't many virgins left, yet just because you have sinned doesn't mean that you have to continue to do so. I know that temptation is rough but that is why we should turn to the Lord to help us through difficult times. I think Celibacy is an excellent option and more people should choose that route. I know that it's not all about sex but it does have a lot to do with it. If you take your time and really get to know one another you will find out a lot of things before jumping the broom. Patience, abstinence or celibacy, and faith are key factors.

Another thing, just because your cousin/sister/mama/daddy or whomever did it and it worked out for them doesn't mean that you will have the same results.

You're right living together doesn't mean sleeping together yet the chances are very high depending on the relationship. I just happen to find it best not to flirt with temptation by avoiding the situation at all cost. I think flirting with temptation is a setup for failure. Now, this isn't anything against the men but they tend to have sex on the brain a lot more often than women and I find it hard for them to live under the same roof with their significant other and not be able to have sex with them (outside of the marriage covenant). But hey, different strokes for different folks.

Yeah men have sex on the brain alot but if you let him know where you stand as a person then if he really loves you then he will respect you by not over stepping his boundarys...If he still tries to do the do before wedding nite then maybe be he isn't the right person for you...Because that just shows you that he doesn't respect your views as a person......Now i'm not talking about saying one thing then walking around half naked and flirting with him and then turn the tables when he takes the bait.....You have to stick by your words and if he truly loves you then he will help you by not trying.....

I'm not even in this situation nor have I ever been but I find this topic very interesting. I am not condemning anyone so please don't be offended by my opinion. At any rate,of course I would let him know where I stand yet just because I do wouldn't lessen the attraction and I wouldn't view his sexual/physical attraction towards me as a form of disrespect, it just confirms that he is only human. What I mean by flirting with temptation is not walking around half naked, I can be in sweats, uniform, or whatever and be fully clothed yet because we share the same space (and not necessarily the same bedroom)and the attraction is present the more likely something will pop off. Yet if you avoid the situation altogether it wouldn't occur. Once again, it's not all about sex though.
