As humans we are consumed with decisions. We love the power to decide for ourselves. Yet, we wish some decisions never had to be made. We reflect on past decisions and now wish that we had not made them. We ignore the cumulative power of little decisions and hope a few right big decisions will make our life fulfilled. Our cultural traditions make decisions for us that we can only challenge at great risk. Huge impacts in our lives are often caused by small seemingly unimportant decisions. Small impacts in our lives sometimes come from decisions that have consumed a lot of time and energy. To decide as God hopes is an invitation to add another element, God, to our decisions. For two-universe Christians it means opening our decision making to the hopes for us imbedded in the character of the this second universe often called God.. For one-universe Christians it means opening our decision making to the hopes for us imbedded in humanity’s accumulated wisdom often called God or Earth. Decisions that are limited to our own wants can weigh us down into greed and self-centeredness. Decisions that are made as God hopes draw us out of ourselves and contribute to the helpful development of Earth, its inhabitants, and, of course, ourselves.
