Re: Grand Poobah

This was a bit before me time but I did watch Amos & Andy TV program and even they had a (Black) fraternity. These things have all but disapeared. It isn't clear rather home entertainment rendered fraternities obsolete or if they simply no longer worked for the modern diverse comunity.

Like the local shopping center that goes under because people with cars can drive anywhere they wish the local spiritual watering place has to compete with a world of thoughts and places easily reachible via computer.

I sure miss the local church .......it still there .......as am I but now we worlds apart . Yeah remember the Masonic Conspiracy ? Now you can't even be afraid of them anymore and if you use them for jokes nobody understands what you are talking about.

Now THAT is kind of funny in a way .....and sad too ..........

Re: Grand Poobah

Fratres and Sorores:

I have had a real bad "cold" for over a week. Age wise, I should have recognized what Faye was talking about. It took Frater Hays' posting to "wake me up" from my malaise. Yes lodge meetings ans fraternities have sufered from this syndrome. You only have to look at the Masonic Order to see the "results" of what can happen. In Mysticism this should be slower to set in, but probably some harm already has taken place due to the abundance of Mysticism on the web. Rembember also that the Masonic Order is the outer circle of Mysticism and it will change much faster than the inner circle of true Mysticism. Mysticism will always remain more traditional. A final point, Remember that you are preparing for iniation into the "Invisible Fraternity.

This one is trivial but I thought it was funny enough to mention here. (My posting will wane down a little.)

Does anyone remember lodge meetings, the Grand Poobah, & the water buffalo hats on the "Flintstones?"

I think the writers might have been poking the Masons.

Remember when Betty & Wilma infiltrated the meeting disguised as men and got their butts kicked out?
