I have it from a high-ranking, long-standing (45 years) AMORC member that Gary Stewart was only 2nd degree at the time the San Jose staff chose him as Imperator, and that he hadn't been groomed for the job at all by R. M. Lewis. That Raymond Bernard had actually been his choice.
Confirmations? Denials?
Whatever happened to those pages everyone has links to, that had all the court documents on it? Did someone's lawyers make them take it off the net?
The AMORC events of 1990 took place a long time ago. I agree that they were not what the members wanted. This was an unfortunate series of events. I am glad that many of the web sites about these events are no longer in existence. This is a time for healing. We have three Fraternities that teach Rosicrucian studies. The student will have to decide which organization he/she will join.
I was taking the weekly Martinist studies at Rosicrucian Park during this period of time. I will tell you what I know, briefly about the questions you ask. I do not know what degree Gary Stewart was studding at the time this happened. I know he had college studies in Esoteric Studies when he joined Amorc. Ralph Lewis was definitely grooming him for the office of Imperator during the time that he was very ill, and knew that he would probably go through transition soon. Remember that Stewart was Grand Master at this time. Ralph Lewis did not want any one else for Imperator. He attended a few of the Martinist sessions to give him a more rounded Rosicrucian experience. I attended these sessions, and I can tell you that Gary Stewart was the most well informed person I ever met. He seemed to understand all areas of Rosicrucianism and Martinism. Raymond or Christian Bernard (father/son) were not on Ralph Lewis' mind as candidates for this office. Lewis definitely stated that he knew of no student as qualified as Gary Stewart.
This concludes my remarks.
