Hundreds of diners will march on Marlow’s restaurants this Tuesday (30th April) to sample gourmet food and raise money for families who are struggling with the cost of living.

Marlow Tastes. the town’s excusive safari supper organised by Marlow Thames Rotary, will launch from a reception at All Saints Church when none of the 400 diners will know which restaurants they will be visiting for each course of their meal.

The mystery tour of some of the town’s finest restaurants was introduced on a limited scale last April and was a resounding success, raising £8,000 for charity.
Places were completely sold out within days of announcing this year’s event although the safari has doubled in size with another 400 hopefuls on the waiting list. Those lucky enough to secure a place will receive final details in the next few days.

The event is expected to significantly increase last year’s contribution to charity. This year main beneficiaries are the Marlow United Charities – which supports struggling families – and Parkinson’s UK.

Organising the event has been a challenge with 1,200 journeys planned between restaurants. John Bromwich of Marlow Thames Rotary has gathered dozens of volunteers from the town.

He said: “The tremendous interest shown in our second event is proof that Marlow Tastes has become an important feature in the town’s calendar. It is attracting great interest, not just from diners but also from restauranteurs and sponsors, whose contribution helps boost funds.

“This progressive supper is unique to Marlow, a town gifted with fine restaurants. It’s an opportunity to try out some of our best fare at new venues while raising much-needed funds to good causes.”

Lead sponsor is Macbeth Insurance Brokers, who recently relocated their second office to Mere Park, Marlow. Another local group, BP Collins Solicitors, are sponsoring the reception. Many local businesses are giving prizes for the raffle


Restaurants welcome Marlow Tastes because it enables them to showcase their offerings and triples their footfall on the evening
Taking part are the Compleat Angler Riverside restaurant, La Cantina del Vino, Cote Brasserie, The Ivy Marlow Garden, Lavvin, The Marlow Bar and Grill, The Oarsman and Suum Kitchen.

Marlow has three highly active Rotary clubs providing support and funds where most needed. One of many highlights is the Santas Fun Run which attracts 3,000 contestants from a wide area.
