Green Cheek Conure - tail feathers

This is probably not the right site for this but we really need help! "Friend" has been my daughter beloved pet (Green Cheek Conure) for the past 3 years. Last night following their normal play time Friend decided to return to her cage. (Not clipped) Suddenly ALL of her tail feathers dropped to the floor. There didn't seem to be any sign of damage to the featers (no blood) and the birds behavior seems quite normal with no signs of plucking. My daughter is scared to death that something is very wrong. We live in a farming community and the nearest vet who can even look at Friend is almost a day away. PLEASE HELP... any information would be greatly appreciated. This is generally a very gental and yet playful bird.
