Lead

You will have seen quite a few reports of lead being stolen in the last few months. This seems to have centred on Holyport.

Last night a member of one of our Neighbourhood Watch schemes in Holyport, phoned the police at 4.05 a.m. to say there was a car acting suspiciously in the road and appeared to be loading lead into it. Police cars were dispatched immediately and within 4 minutes they had arrived on the scene.

As a result of this call 3 men have been arrested.

Our grateful thanks to that person.

Lead thieves have been busy again:
12/3 - 18/3 Paley Street. Lead stolen from the main building and out buildings over this period.
18/3 midnight - 7 a.m. Altwood Road. Lead stolen from the side of a building.

If you live near a church or building which has lead, please keep an eye on it. These buildings are generally unoccupied at night, when thieves tend to operate. As in the above case, anyone loading any form of metal into a car during the early hours is suspicious and should be called through to the police on the 0845 8 505 505 number.
