Cookham Plan meeting next Tuesday 11th March
Does any one know what's going to happen at the meeting to dicuss the cookham plan next week? The advertiser says the council have withdrawn the plan but the parsh councl say they want 'enough to time to look at the plan properly'. So it's not been thrown out has it? I wanted to go to the meting to find out what was going on and what happens next. |

Isn't that kinda the point? Now everyone thinks the plan's 'gone away' so they won't bother turning up next week and the parish council won't get a load of stick? Clever old councillors I say...that plan's gone nowhere except out of the public eye while they look at it without getting hassled by the great unwashed...

The front page of the Cookham website says the agenda is: 1. Chairman to convene Meeting. 2. To confirm Minutes of 111th Annual Parish Meeting on 20th March 2007. 3. Matters arising. 4. To receive Chairman’s Report for the Year 2007/2008. 5. To receive the official response from Cookham Parish Council regarding the first draft of The Cookham Plan. 6. Open Forum with questions and answers from the floor. |

I think withdrawn means only the printed or the web copy. The plan isnt dead only sleeping til the parish councillors are ready to agree it butlater. I think that people will be trying to get a straight answer on Tuesday about what they are going to do. I am not sure that anything has changed with this annocement and who knows who is reposnsible for what anymore? |

It's really important that everybody who has anything to say about the Cookham Plan attends the AGM at Pinder Hall tomorrow (Tuesday) night, as the Parish Council can only act on Cookham's behalf when the views of as many residents as possible are known. So it's no good to have only a handful of people attending, as a poor turnout will not create the impression that enough people care; this needs a really big crowd to show just how strongly people feel, whether you speak individually or not. Cookham Parish Council AGM is the very best place to make our feelings known and it's probably the best opportunity we will ever get to discuss our feelings about the Plan with the people who actually have the power to kill off the really bad bits of it now, for the sake of Cookham's future. Let's nip the silliest ideas in the bud before they can take root! Also, don't forget the Cookham Society's AGM this Thursday evening, 7.30pm at Moor Hall, where there will be another excellent chance to air your views on this controversial subject - and hear what others have to say. The advert for it says: "To include Preliminary Response to the Cookham Village Plan", which sounds a good start. If you really care about what is to happen in Cookham and if you want it to remain a real village for your children and grandchildren to enjoy, please don't miss either of these opportunities!! |
