The best four and a half week party I ever had. It would be great to hear from anyone from that cruise. I have Ray has kindly posted some of my photo's of the trip and people I met so please take a look. Look forward to hearing from anyone on that voyage. Alan (Wally) Waller |

I was on the 1972 voyage from Auckland 1971 (New Year`s eve), and enjoyed every single moment of the trip. I was heading to London to meet a friend, and had the most 5 glorious weeks, meeting some amazing people on board, even flatting with some of them when we got to London. Ports of call were adventures in themselves, will never forget that `adventure` |

I was 8 going on 9 yrs old when our family of 8 embarked on the SS Australis in Freemantle in early March of '72 for the trip northbound to Southampton. Dad was a minister in Albany WA and had been hired by the Australian Government to be the Protestant ship's chaplain for Dutch immigrants on the return voyage on RHMS Britanis later that year. As this involved getting to the Rotterdam departure point first, we all got a free trip to Southampton, plus a bus trip through southern England to Harwich and from there by ferry to Holland where we lived off the relatives for 3 months until the Britanis departed. Needless to say, for an impressionable young bloke like myself, this voyage was one of those momentous events in one's life that is never forgotten. I could still talk for hours about the rough seas between Sydney and Auckland, and the smooth seas for the remainder of the Pacific run...every morning seas like glass that would get progressively choppier throughout day only to be like a millpond again the next day; the stunning sunsets; crossing the equator, Suva, Acapulco, the Panama Canal, etc. Anyway, if anyone out there was a kid on voyage 33 northbound on the Australis (or the July '72 Britanis trip) and feels like they want to share memories, drop a line...
