Thanks for your comments - nice to have someone using the Stilton forums for a change!
How do people hear about the collection? Maybe because it's on the home page of the website (and is advertised some months in advance on the Special Waste page)? But news travels fast around here anyway.
Regarding people 'helping themselves' to the items awaiting collection, the laws and definitions of waste are complex, but I believe, if on your property, the items are still yours, and the takers are guilty of theft unless they have your approval.
Alternatively, if not on your property, then have you technically fly-tipped the items?!
I have some misgivings about the Special Waste Collections, as alot of the stuff discarded could be reused or recycled instead of being landfilled. |
