*Alice In Chains (ver 3) debut warm up show* 5/18

I headed over to the Roxy where I had nada in the form of a ticket but be ****ed if the "gods of plus one" didn't come through in the clutch...

By the time I got inside I missed all of opening act Shooter Jennings but that was mostly due to the line outside, the head count at the door and the latest ticket system to circumvent scalpers. **

**Incidently some were going for 3x as much as Clipper playoff tickets! Ha!

Bottom line and this is the "cliff notes" version:

EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT SHOW. Great response from the crowd from start to finish.

A wall to wall sold out crowd loving every minute of it and the appx set list in no particular order except the last 2:

Godsmack
Would?
Again
Rain When I Die
Down In a Hole
Rooster
We Die Young
Angry Chair
Dam That River
Sea Of Sorrow
Brush Away
------------------
Man In the Box 1st encore ( of course)
Them Bones closed the night.

AIC played for about 75min.

Billy Corrigan came out and sang "Down In a Hole"
Mark Lannigan (Screaming Trees/QOTSA) did 1/2 of "Rooster" or the "somber" parts.
Duff McKagan (touring with them I believe) came out
and played rhythm on those and one other tune.

Front man William Duvall handed himself pretty well on vocals...he's put in his time touring with Jerry years back but his CWTF bass player on the other hand
Adam who I almost got into blows with his drunk ass in the crowd (more on this douche later)

Performance-wise Will does his own thing and is a great compliment to Jerry... not trying to mimic Layne at all just singing songs not heard live in many years.

*Just an observational note* There was no Layne tribute/mention/dedication whatsoever the whole night. Its been 4 years since his death and ya figure....maybe a little something unless you consider the songs themselves as just that.

Back to "I can't handle my alcohol" Adam:

This guy was so ******* liquored up he kept flipping off and screaming at the club security by the corner bar and then....got into it with ME! I was trying to calm the situation before a beatdown was on the agenda
as I attempted to "guide" him over to William who came downstairs with Duff to meet everyone hanging out after the show

"Mr Peacemaker" here was minutes away from alcohol fueled fisticuffs!!

So....if anyone hears about ANY reports about a tall guy with dreadlocks at the end of the night who was trying to fight ALL of the Roxy security force and got tossed out....

IT W A S N 'T ME.

Spotted in the crowd: Tom Morello, Nadja Peulen,Gina Gershon, Matt Sorum, Scott Weiland,
Billy Gibbons, Producer Toby Wright, Lonn Friend, Pat Lachman and a bunch of die-hard fans who waited
far too long.
