Message:   It looks like we are back to where we were 35 years ago and the only thing that the people of this country heard was what the goverment wanted them through the media they selected.
I was working for a couple of motorcycle publications named BIKER and Colors and trying to get word out to riders and we were starting to get that done.
Lou Kimzey of Easyriders contacted me and offered me a position with that publication. In return I would be allowed to write about what was happening to us. It worked and we started to get things done.
Then Lou started ABATE. Back when it stood for American Bikers Against Totalitarian Enactments. I am proud to say I was one of the original members and we did have Great success.
I am not sure when the changes started but it may have been around the time that some said they wanted to change the name because the politions did not like the word Totalitarian WELL DAMM that word was chosen for that reason.
Then some came up with the idea lets be friends with the legislators and changed the name to American Bikers Aiming Towards Education. The idea was to become part of the legislative system and hopefully they would see things our way.
I am not sure that worked out as well as was expected other than some of the ABATE leaders may have become to friendly with the politions and now are making deals and trade offs like politions.
That usually is not in the best interest of the motorcycle riders themselves. What has continued to happen with laws and regulations has shown that. Every year there are more laws that change how we live our lives and in most cases not for the better.
Then we have people that are suppose to be on our own side tell us it is for our own good.
Does anyone remember the protests around the country in the 70s and even in later years? Do you remember how much was accomplished by having them? What about the good times that were had.
Now we have MRO's saying No Protests and in many cases telling the legislators they control the Bikers of the state and Guarantee There Will Be No Protests.
Let it be known that there are Many Freedom Fighters that are ready to put on Protests Again.
There are numerous motorcycle media sources willing to cover and report on these protests and of course the other non motorcycle sources will because it will be big news just as it was in the past.
It is time for the MRO's to produce results or see the rise and actions of other groups.
Totalitarian: Refers to a goverment in which those in control grant neither decognition nor tolerance to parties of different opinion.
Some of the MRO's have turned into what we started out to fight.
Let us look at the laws that make it Mandatory for people to attend a school and pay for it before they can get a endorsement to ride a motorcycle.
I do think that those who have no experience would benefit from going to school But that the schools should not be mandatory. I feel that the state should make these schools available free of charge and pay for them from the money that is added to every motorcycle license and registeration and clearly earmarked for that use.
And Most Important that after completing courses that students Must still Take the State Motorcycle Test.
It is the responsibility of the State issuing the license to test applicant and not the person or agency teaching the school.
Does this amount to you can Buy A License By Attending A Motorcycle Course? I think in some cases it does because people have told me personally they have taked the course because they could not pass the test given by the state.
These schools have hired lobbyist to make rider courses mandatory in many states.
For exaple Florida has a law that anyone under 21 Must Take A Rider Course before recieving a motorcycle endorsement.
People complained about that so what is happening? Well since car drivers were not under the same type of rule someone came up with the idea that those under 18 wanting a automobile license had to go to school. Wait a minute is that not saying we do not want people to make laws against us but we do want to be able to against them?
Why was a effort not made to get rid of the mandatory motorcycle school law? Why the difference in ages? Make all applicants take the state test. If they can not pass then they have the option to learn and take the test again.
Now here enters the guy with the deal Hey Give me Your Money and come to my school and I will guarantee you a license and hey you might also learn something while you are there. We will teach our idea and if you like it okay. Of course you can do what you want once you leave here.
If You Want A Say In The Things That Affect Your Life Take The Time To Contact Your Elected Officials And Let Them Know, Do not rely on other to do that for you.
