Sorry if everyone gets this more than once - problems with Gmail...
=============================
Hi Bruce -
I can't speak for the MRF, I speak only for myself. I will state very emphatically, that illegal aliens are killing bikers by the scores in Arizona every year. Within the past year and a half, I know of three bikers - who were personal friends of mine - who have been killed by drivers without citizenship, drivers licenses or insurance who were let go without a single charge or ran from the scene of the crime, never to be found. For an example, go to www.myspace.com/abateofaz and in the left column, click on the picture of Loren Leggett - that will download a video file that ran on our local news last fall. His story is indicative of many that go without such media coverage. Just because I say that I know, personally, three - that doesn't mean that there aren't a LOT more. There were. If I had police incident numbers, I would list them all - unfortunately such a database is next to impossible to compile - though ABATE of AZ is trying.
I know personally of an additional four cage drivers who were hit by similar illegals and had their cars totaled by illegal aliens without licenses or insurance - the most recent 6 days ago. The police let them go, no questions asked. The injured drivers were left to pay for their own damages and increased insurance rates. The injurers were free to go back to Mexico, change their names and come back into the U.S. to send American Dollars back to their homes.
I used to try and keep illegal immigration out of my thinking in regards to our fight, but it is a severe problem here in Arizona. I wrote an article for the state ABATE paper recently about this very issue and it was shot down based on the very fact that you bring up - it is not specifically a motorcycle issue. Though I fought the idea for a long time, unfortunately, in my mind, the illegal immigrant issue has become a motorcycle issue - as well as a REAL national highway issue.
Have you ever driven in Mexico? There are no rules - its demolition derby time. This disregard for highway rules has been imported to the U.S. by these illegals and has been ignored by our law enforcement. For the most part, the government in Mexico has been proven to be corrupt. The authorities in principalities within Mexico have been proven to be corrupt. If you or I were to be pulled over for hitting and killing a Mexican National in Mexico, we would be locked away in a Mexican prison for who knows how long, without possibility of a fair trial or parole.
I do not belong to the much publicized Arizona 'Minutemen' or any other fringe or mainstream group with similar goals or opinions. I am just an American biker watching my brothers and sisters being killed by illegal immigrants on a regular basis in the United States without anything resembling justice.
If I offend someone reading this, I have no apologies. I simply am speaking from the real facts and my heart. Bikers don't need to be dying as a result of uneducated/inattentive/careless/irresponsible illegal drivers from another country. |
