Dear Bruce and Ray,
The impetus for many motorcyclists to pursue immigration issues is clouded.
Enough reports have circulated that "illegals" have been afforded different treatment. Some of these reports are fact and some are fiction.
I know of one from Colorado that purports that a male Mexican national was deported after receiving $300.00. The feeling was that the treatment for killing a motorcyclist in a drunken ROWV was lenient beyond belief.
I am not certain that any cases like this are biker's rights.
A certain amount of nationalism and patriotism surrounds the mystique of motorcyclists in the USA. I think that this "patriotism" is false and has attached itself to many different issues.
On the other hand, many motorcyclists view this false patriotism as the real deal and see it as a rallying point of solidarity.
It is always easier to take a prejudicial stance against anything or anybody rather than look at things on a case by case basis.
True biker's rights deal with issues of inequality under the law, insurance companies that will not pay unless litigated against, roadways that are unsuitable for motorcycle use, prejudicial press against motorcyclists, and inadequate training and licensing of motorcyclists.
There is a strong trend to legislate against motorcyclists rather than to expand their rights.
Non-issues that are attached to motorcyclists under the guise of protectionism for the masses or the motorcyclists are fluffed up as "rallying" points.
I strongly believe that in all cases, motorcyclists would prefer an equal and fair treatment for everyone. This is a very difficult concept for many to embrace because it goes back to an eye for an eye treatment of all. This also embraces the concept of equal and deadly force. Equal treatment within the judicial system does not exist for motorcyclists because they are the only motorized vehicles requiring balance. Many in society prefer things that are unbalanced.
