paint colour

Hello

I am trying to find the correct paint colour of blue for my classic.

It is a 1993 200Tdi

On the chassis plate the paint code box is blank.

I have contacted Dingocroft to place an order & they have narrowed it down to either

Plymouth blue or

Agean blue

The paint is a metalic dark blue.

There is no reference on the log book to paint code.

Does anybody at RRR have any idea as to which colour of blue I should be ordering????

Thanks Mark

Re: paint colour

Despite the area on the VIN plate LR couldn't be bothered to put a paint code on. Sometimes you will find a small sticker with the colour name & code near to the plate.
www.stephen.hull.btinternet.co.uk has a full list of colours.
Franchised dealer would be able to tell you the colour as would a Motor Factor who could check with colour swatches. I would advise you to check it against colour swatches.
Plymouth is coded as JUJ and 434. In Nexa Autocolour I see there are two shades listed, one being slightly darker
Aegean is coded as JUR and 490. It also has two shades, one being slightly darker.

Re: paint colour

thanks for your reply

I had indeed noticed the sticker you mention
but ,unfortunately, after 17 odd years it is no longer ledgidable(spelt wrong---oh the youth of today!).

As I have pranged the front wing
(mishap in the snow, due to driver error , I might add- namely me, are we allowed to say PLONKER on the forum?).

I could send Dingocroft a sample which they could hopefully try & match.

Are Dingocroft a main dealer or should I send the sample direct to a paint supplier, can you recommend somebody.

I am in France so cannot take it to a UK main dealer

French main dealer just provide the Gallic shrug.

Remember boys & girls, be careful in the snow!!
Even with studded tyres all round I came a cropper!

Luckily, nothing that can,t be fixed, nobody hurt etc.
but hey, I,d rather spend my time with my family than having to reshape my body work.

cheers Mark

Re: paint colour

I hadn't realised you were in France.
Although the French do have accidents, so they must get the paint from somewhere!
Can you find a local body repair specialist & ask them where they get it from?
Don't forget that metallics need a lacquer coat over them as well so you are going to need both.
