P38 Wheel nut covers

Can anyone please give any tips or tricks for getting the wheel nut covers (not the actual nuts) off my 2001 P38. I have gone through 2 of the plastic removal tools, snapping both as they just will not move!
Has anybody else had the problem and if so what is the easiest way to get around it.
Thanks

Re: P38 Wheel nut covers

Hi,

Why are you trying to get the covers off the nuts in the first place? To me, they are fixed good and proper. The wheel nut wrench fits over the covers to undo the nuts.

Re: P38 Wheel nut covers

The only covers that need removing are on the locking nuts. This is what the plastic tool is for. Mine had broken and when requiring tyre changes they can be pulled off with a pair of long nosed pliers. A tyre fitter managed to 'wiggle' them off mine recently with little marking but I would suggest trying a piece of insulation tape on the pliers to avoid any scratches.
