Squeeky steering wheel

Can anyone help, my 1995 soft dash has developed the most annoying squeek when turning the steering wheel. It comes from the gap between the steering wheel and the housing but all attemps to cure it have failed. Any suggestions?

Re: Squeeky steering wheel

I use furniture polish, spray in the gap, doesn't last forever, but it does help and is readily available when the squeak returns.

Re: Squeeky steering wheel

Hello, I had this problem on my '95 Classic a couple of years ago. The old style rubber collar / bush for the steering column was making the noise. It was replaced with a nylon version - no noise since then. There's a description of a "lubrication" fix on http://www.lrfaq.org/RR/RR.Squeaky_steering_wheel.html which you might also find useful.
