P38 Diesel- fuel economy.

Hi Folks,

I,m looking to buy a late P38 diesel in the near future, my old 4.6 is getting on a bit (175k).
Anyway, can anyone out there who owns a post 2000 P38 Diesel give me some idea of their overall fuel economy please ? I seem to have a vast range of thoughts from others (notably no one who actually owns one !!). I,m being told anything from 15-35 mpg. Also, any views on Kenlow fans or other fuel saving devices would be appreciated. Thanks.

Re: P38 Diesel- fuel economy.

hello there martin i own a 1995 dt ;
she has a silly momments as they all do
i run mine on 50/50 veggie oil with no mods ;
run very well has done for the last 2 years ;
great savings plus i fitted myself a superchip for 225 pounds and got 27 more hp and 65 more torqe so she is grunting like a v8 but is cheap as chips to run ha ha; if i go from hampshire m3 jun4 to the new forest with a 1500 kg caravan with 40 ltrs in her 50/50 the veggie only cost 1200 pounds for twentey lts
so get a saving of 8 pounds the cost 38 pounds in total drive round the new forest for the weekend and gets me home . i had a 4.6 and that cost me 70.00 pounds . now i am relax when driving good luck . reg,s mark
